The India's largest tennis event was found in 1996, 22 years ago. It was originally held in New Delhi before moving to the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Chennai in 1997. In 2018 the tournament relocated to Pune. It is one of three tournaments held in the opening week of the season. India’s Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi forged their formidable partnership in the tournament.
